Some untrustworthy dealers will fail to provide a home contact number, instead providing just an email address or mobile phone number. You will also need to pay attention to what details the dealer has provided about the horse. Be wary of adverts that have incorrect information about the breed of horse that is being sold, no photograph or photos that appear suspicious. Also avoid adverts that contain spelling mistakes or phrases that have been added to trick you into thinking you will be buying a healthy, well trained horse. All horses, ponies or donkeys in England and Wales must now have a passport.
